If you’re looking for a rewarding volunteer activity, consider joining the IEEE Awards Board. The Awards Board Nominations and Appointments Committee is soliciting recommendations for a number of vacancies on the 2008 Awards Board and its committees:
- Member-at-Large—performs tasks related to awards matters and attends Awards Board meetings.
- Presentation & Publicity Chair—proposes and reviews policies related to presentation and publicity of IEEE awards.
- Finance Committee Chair—oversees the Awards Board’s budget.
- Medals Council Chair—oversees the medal selection committees.
- Recognitions Council Chair—oversees the recognition selection committees.
- Technical Field Awards Council Chair—oversees activities of the awards selection committees.
- Award/Medal Selection Committee Member—reviews nominations and recommends recipients for IEEE Institute-level awards.
If you are interested in one of these positions, please e-mail a brief biography of no more than one page to awards@ieee.org by 1 March, and include a summary of your IEEE award activities and the position you seek. Although any IEEE member can apply, it is helpful if you have already served on a society, section, or region awards selection committee, or if you have received a major IEEE award yourself.
