2009 Membership Year Kicks Off

BY ADRIENNE HAHN

Your 2009 membership renewal package will arrive in the mail soon, or you can renew online right now at www.ieee.org/renew. Renew before 15 November and you’ll be entered into a drawing to win one of three laptops.

When you renew this year you will also have the option to change the way you receive your subscription to IEEE Spectrum. You have three options: print, digital replica, or, for US $9.95, you can have both. When you select the digital delivery option for IEEE Spectrum, this will also cover the delivery of The Institute.

Also being rolled out for 2009 are “Member-Get-A-Member” referral cards, personalized with your name and member number and included with your membership card. IEEE has found that peer-to-peer recruitment is an effective way for members to expand their professional network. So when you receive these cards, pass them along to your friends and colleagues. If someone names you as a referral on their membership application, you’ll earn up to $90 in credit that you may use to pay for IEEE products or services, including your 2010 membership dues, or to donate to the IEEE Foundation.

Your local section can also benefit from your participation in this Member-Get-A-Member program. The top five recruiters in each region will earn membership development rewards for their section, which can be used to fund section activities. For program details, visit http://www.ieee.org/mgm.
